Running the Association / Governance
Information for tenants and residents
Grampian Housing Association is run and governed by a voluntary Board of Management made up of tenants, residents and people from the community who are committed to providing affordable homes for people in housing need. A copy of our rules can be downloaded here.
We recognise the importance of good governance to protect the interests of our tenants and residents as well as people we hope to help in the future. The Association is registered with the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) and we also recognise our responsibility to meet the standards the Regulator expects. These are set down in legislation and guidance.
The SHR's new Regulatory Framework came into effect on 1 April 2024. This publication sets out how the Regulator will approach the regulation of social landlords in Scotland and also sets out the standards the Regulator expects of social landlords in governance and financial management.

The Regulator expects social landlords, such as Grampian Housing Association, to assess themselves against the standards and to report this to tenants. The Association, as an organisation committed to good governance, has previously carried out self-assessments with the assistance of an independent external organisation. Using someone external helped to ensure that the assessment was vigorous and complete as well as drawing on knowledge that those who carried out the assessment had in the area.
The SHR requires associations, such as Grampian, to formally assess itself against the new framework and submit this to the Regulator. This assessment, called the Annual Assurance Statement, is shared with tenants and the Association will also be working with tenants to see how they can play a part in this assessment.
As part of the new framework, each year the Association will receive a rating from the Regulator. This will be informed by a range of submissions Grampian is required to make, including the Annual Assurance Statement. The Association’s SHR Engagement Plan can be found here: Engagement Plan.
